How Can You Whiten Your Teeth?

Dental Evaluation: As a first step, our experts evaluate you and determine whether whitening is right for you.

Professional Cleaning: Plaque and stains on the tooth surface are first cleaned. This step increases the effectiveness of the whitening process.

Personal Approach: We create a whitening plan specific to your needs. Every individual's tooth color and health condition is different, so we take a personal approach.

Color Assessment: Your dentist may perform a color measurement to determine your initial tooth color. This helps you better evaluate the results you will achieve after the procedure.

Teeth Whitening Phase: Two methods are generally used: office whitening and special at-home whitening sets. In office whitening, whitening is performed quickly and effectively under the supervision of a dentist. In the sets used at home, whitening is provided safely under the guidance of your physician.

Preservation of Results: By giving you suggestions after the procedure, we ensure that you preserve the results for a long time.

Remember, the teeth whitening process may produce different results for each individual. Therefore, it is important to follow your dentist's recommendations carefully. You should also share any sensitivity or problems experienced after the procedure with your dentist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Teeth Whitening?

What exactly is teeth whitening and how does it work?

Tooth whitening is the process of gently removing stains from the tooth enamel. The process of returning teeth to their original brightness is called whitening. Whitening products sold online contain some sandpaper, such as silica, or abrasives. There are various techniques for bleaching teeth. The most common technique is the use of peroxide-based products. Peroxides are very strong chemical oxidizers and attack stained material.

Many patients also state that at-home treatments are actually more expensive than dentist whitening. Although at-home whitening costs less initially, the whitening agents are less concentrated than those from dentists. It requires much longer application time and it is also challenging to get the results. Whitening agents usually contain hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.

High concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are used in a process also known as power whitening. In this technique, a protective barrier is first applied to the gums and hardened with radiation. Then, high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and a catolytic photochemical substance are applied to our teeth in the form of a gel. Then, a light source is applied to the tooth to trigger the catalyst in a process known as activator (10-15 minutes).

Is Teeth Whitening Safe?

Are there any health risks during the teeth whitening process?

Teeth whitening is a chemical whitening process. There are multiple variations of the process, but they all work by contacting an oxidizing agent to discolored teeth. The oxidizing agent chemically attacks the stain and attracts electrons. Since the chemical structure of the stain material changes, it cannot remain on the tooth surface any longer and the tooth becomes white. It is a very safe procedure.

How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost?

How much does the treatment cost and is it covered by insurance?

Many insurance companies cover the cost of teeth whitening. Cost: 300 euros.

Which Teeth Whitening Method is Most Suitable?

What is the teeth whitening method that suits my personal needs and tooth structure?

What patients have in common is that they rarely smile, regardless of the dental problem. I can walk in a large group of people and instantly identify people with defective and discolored teeth. I'm a dentist. When I see you and you don't smile, I may suspect you have a stained tooth or a dental problem you want to hide, but for a non-dentist, it may have a different effect. He/she may think you are antisocial, unfriendly, arrogant. The smile is much more important than most people realise. The first whitening can be done as office whitening. Then home whitening may be recommended to the patient.

When Can I See Results?

How soon will it take to start seeing changes in my teeth?

When the treatment is completed, whiteness can be determined with a scale.

Are Whitening Results Permanent?

How long do whitening results last?

Do I need to repeat it regularly?

In patients with good oral hygiene, tooth color will become whiter when whitening is repeated every year. Regular repetition is required.

Is teeth whitening a painful experience?

When teeth whitening is applied with very aggressive whiteners, sensitivity occurs in the teeth. This will pass in 24 hours.

What Side Effects May Happen?

What possible side effects should I expect after teeth whitening?

Side effects include tooth sensitivity that lasts for a few days. This sensitivity will pass in a few days.

What Maintenance Is Required?

What kind of care should I do after teeth whitening and what should I pay attention to?

After teeth whitening, colored drinks (e.g. tea, coffee, cola, fruit juices, red wine) should be avoided for a few days, in line with the doctor's recommendations. One should not brush with colored toothpaste.

Am I a Good Candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Is teeth whitening suitable for me, or do I need to take care of any other dental problems?

For the whitening process, tooth enamel must be intact. Young teeth are often whiter than adult teeth due to their distinct surface texture. The need for bleaching in children should be limited to situations where discoloration impairs self-confidence and social interaction.

There is no scientific evidence that bleaching can cause birth defects and other diseases. However, pregnant women should be advised not to whiten their teeth but to focus on their pregnancy and related concerns, especially during the first trimester. The advice not to bleach may be extended to the months after birth when breastfeeding is discontinued.
